This innovative chip enables high-resolution 4K2K Ultra HD content to be displayed on portable devices like tablets, phablets, and handheld gaming consoles. Samples are now available, with mass production set to begin in March 2015.
The TC358860XBG is designed to convert and compress video signals from ultra HD (4096 × 2160, 3840 × 2160), 4K2K, 60fps, 24bpp inputs into a format suitable for mobile displays. As a monolithic IC, it leverages an industry-standard high-speed serial interface while maintaining low power consumption, making it ideal for battery-powered devices.
By connecting to an application processor equipped with an eDP interface, this IC allows manufacturers to develop portable devices capable of supporting smooth 4K2K Ultra HD, WQXGA, and WQHD content without any delay.
