Isn't the brain enough to help Ke Jie revenge Alpha Dog with "human-machine symbioses"?

(Original title: Can "Human-Machine Symbiosis" Help Ke Jie Take Revenge on the "Alpha Dog"? )

Since Google's AlphaGo, known as "Alfa Dog," defeated top human Go players repeatedly, OpenAI, a non-profit AI organization founded by "Iron Man" Elon Musk, once again demonstrated its power by defeating a top Dota 2 player. The growing influence of artificial intelligence has raised concerns that a new form of life might one day dominate humanity.

Musk is one of the most vocal critics of AI. He co-authored an open letter signed by 116 global AI and robotics experts, urging the United Nations to ban "killer robots." The letter warned, "Once this Pandora’s box is opened, it will be difficult to close again."

On Twitter, Musk also stated, "If you don’t want to worry about AI security, you must act now."

Last week, physicist Stephen Hawking issued another warning: "Artificial intelligence could be the worst event in human history. Its rise may mark the end of civilization."

In this context, Ke Jie, who has personally experienced the power of AI, is one of the most qualified voices. In a recent interview with a reporter from the First Financial Bureau, Ke Jie said he is now convinced that AlphaGo can no longer win. “My belief in Go collapsed when it first beat Lee Sedol.”

Awe from the Chess King

Mid-October saw the release of AlphaGoZero's research results, which sparked renewed debate about whether AI should be controlled or not. If AI becomes self-aware in the future, will it be controlled by humans—or will it control us?

Because of his experience, Ke Jie feels a deep sense of awe toward AI.

At a forum on AI aiding smart finance and "knowledge mapping" in Wuzhen, Ke Jie told the First Financial reporter, “Go was always the ultimate challenge—once humans, now machines. It’s terrifying to play against them. I was in tears.”

“There’s no point in playing against machines anymore. We’re completely out of their league. We used to hope to find some loopholes, but now AlphaGo has a new version, and we’ve given up. We’re just brains searching for neural networks that are slower and less deep.”

However, according to Professor Wang Qiang from UC Berkeley, AlphaGo isn’t as scary as it seems. He told CBN: “AI development goes through stages: perception, recognition, interaction, and full understanding. We're still in the second stage.”

Wang Qiang added, “The depth of AlphaGoZero’s thinking is incredible. While Ke Jie might analyze five points on the board, AlphaGo can see 1,000 steps ahead and even play without human input. This level of logic is something humans can't match.”

He believes this is a positive development. “The deeper the network, the stronger the computing power. In the future, it will enhance knowledge search, face recognition, and more.”

He cited examples like data-driven traders and smart investment advice, saying, “It’s not hard to analyze portfolios, but integrating user preferences into algorithms is complex. Platforms like Baidu Apollo and Microsoft Research are already doing this. It requires logic and could replace humans.”

As Ke Jie said, being in this era is both unfortunate and fortunate. “Unfortunate because we can’t beat it. But fortunate because we can witness the clash between man and machine early.”

Ke Jie told CBN, “In the future, 90% of industries will be affected by AI, leading to job losses and restructuring. We can look at the chess world to understand how humans will face machines.”

Human Brain Integrates Into “AI Brain”

However, the real fear is not that robots will replace humans, but that they might rule over us. Scientists believe that in the fast development of AI and machine learning, a new “God-like human” may emerge to dominate the current generation. But humans can resist by integrating AI brain layers into their own minds.

Musk proposed the idea of an “AI-human symbiote.” In his view, the best way for humans and machines to coexist is through a lifestyle where “We are the AI.” In this scenario, everyone is part of the AI system, avoiding the threat of an “artificial dictator.” Instead, those who join AI become “human-computer symbionts.”

According to Musk, implanting microchips capable of uploading and downloading information into the human brain could make our minds stronger. His plan includes developing a “brain net” to treat severe brain damage within four years, and by eight years, a “Matrix” technology could become widely available.

Chen Tianshi, founder of China’s top AI chip company, told the First Financial reporter, “Emerging tech like AI is defining a new kind of ‘brain robot’ or ‘brain interface.’ These ‘new humans’ will definitely appear.”

Ke Jie’s “Revenge”

According to Musk, who has long warned about AI dangers, the brain-machine interface (BMI) he created is the best way for future “new humans” to fight against the “Gods” that may rule the world.

The principle behind Musk’s technique involves compressing thoughts from the human brain into low-frequency data, such as text. With two brain interfaces, ideas can be transmitted directly—like an “electrocardiogram.”

AI expert Dai Niu from Carnegie Mellon University told the First Financial reporter, “Computers and human brains can think similarly, with accuracy over 90%. But teaching machines to observe the brain is still challenging. Musk’s neural network is a good start.”

However, science fiction writer Liu Cixin described a futuristic “intangible era” in his novel “Time Migration.” He imagined a time when humans and chips are fully integrated, allowing people to create entire universes in the digital realm. At that time, imagination and reality merge, and humans might not even need physical bodies.

“Although I don’t want to play against AI anymore—it’s too painful—I’m willing to suffer again if people want to see me get beaten by it,” Ke Jie joked with the reporter.

But for the “human-computer community,” Ke Jie has hopes. He told the First Financial reporter, “I’ve had the fantasy that if a super chip can boost my brain power, I won’t hesitate to implant one and play against AlphaGo to take revenge.”
