Application of GPRS and ZigBee in smart home design

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is a packet-switched data bearer and transmission method developed on the basis of GSM. It is widely used in embedded systems. Since the GPRS communication network realizes networking and roaming, the use of the network to transmit data does not need to set up a dedicated communication network, so the system application for transmitting data by using the short message method will be more and more widely, which makes it possible to transmit control commands by short message. ZigBee is a short-range wireless communication technology recently developed. ZigBee is suitable for home control because of its close proximity, low power consumption, low data rate, and low cost.

The smart home solution based on GPRS and ZigBee technology adopts the communication control mode of single-family home unit, and installs a main control center (responsible for receiving and forwarding user feedback signals and home appliance feedback information) in each home, and several A sub-control terminal connected to household appliances (controlling all appliances in the home). The main control and sub-control device are connected by the home bus, and the home bus adopts ZigBee wireless communication. This device is easy to manage by the family, and has high safety and reliability.

1 Overview

1.1 wireless data transmission module MC35i

The GPRS communication module uses the wireless data transmission module MC35i of Siemens to support data, SMS, voice and fax services. The MC35i is a next-generation GSM/GPRS dual-mode module that is fully compatible with the previous generation of the MC35 and TC35i. The compact design provides users with a simple, in-line wireless GPRS connection. The MC35i's GPRS permanent online feature provides the fastest data transfer rate.

1.2IP_Linkl270 module

The ZigBee wireless network communication module uses the IP_Link1270 module from Helix. ZigBee (IEEE802.15.4) technology is a short-range, low-power, low-data-rate, low-cost two-way short-range wireless communication technology recently developed, which is considered by the industry to be the most likely wireless method for industrial control applications. Helicomm's IP_Linkl270 is ZigBee's development tools and products, including 802.15.4-compliant 2.4GHz RF components, low-power 8-bit microcontrollers, ZigBee network software and full-wavelength antennas. 250kbps in 75m range; supports the latest RS232mesh transparent serial mode, can support serial data routing in mesh or multiple jumps (multihop/wireless network, the rate can be up to 38.4kbps. IP_Linkl270 is fully compliant with IEEE802 .15.4 standard and ZigBee specification 2.4GHz wireless transceiver module, the RF part uses Freescale's MCl3191/13192/13193 chip, and the MCU uses Freescale's MC9S08GT60 chip.
