On December 22, 2017, the "Voice of the Times (2017) Large-scale Research Achievements for the National Broadcasting Industry" was held at the Beijing Radio and TV International Hotel. Organized by *China Radio, Film and Television* magazine, the event brought together broadcast media representatives from across China, with nearly 200 participants in attendance. The conference aimed to evaluate and recognize outstanding achievements in the broadcasting sector during a period of significant transformation.
The event featured a wide array of industry leaders, including Wang Qiu, Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Radio, Film, and Television Organizations, and former Director of the Central People's Broadcasting Station; Yuan Tongnan, Director of the Media Organization Department of the State Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television Bureau; Zhu Yannan, Director of the Development Research Center of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television; Luo Jianhui, Vice Chairman of the China Network Audiovisual Program Service Association; Liang Gangjian, Chairman of the China Radio and Television Press Association; Yang Jie, former Inspector of the Publicity Division of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television; Xiao Duanrong, Deputy Director of the Guangming Daily Art Department; Li Chunli, Zhao Ning, and other notable figures from the broadcasting and academic communities.
Jiang Yaojin, General Manager of *China Radio, Film and Television* magazine, delivered a speech highlighting the scope of the research, which covered central and provincial radio stations, their programs, and broadcasting activities. The survey spanned from 2016 to the third quarter of 2017, aiming to assess content production, frequency innovation, advertising operations, and team development. Through questionnaires and on-site interviews, the magazine gathered extensive data and produced a comprehensive report that reflected the current state of the national broadcasting industry.
Cui Zhongfang, leader of the research team, emphasized that this was the second large-scale survey conducted by the magazine since 2015, following four previous studies. She noted that despite challenges faced by traditional media, the broadcasting industry had shown resilience and growth, injecting new vitality into the sector.
Wang Qiu, representing Zhang Haitao, President of the China Federation of Radio, Film, and Television Organizations, praised the magazine’s efforts in conducting detailed research and producing a 40,000-word report that provided an objective overview of the industry. He encouraged broadcasters to embrace the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, promoting socialist values and Chinese culture.
The event also recognized outstanding achievements in various categories, such as the most influential broadcasts, innovative teams, and top hosts. These awards highlighted the dynamic nature of the broadcasting industry and its ongoing evolution in response to technological and cultural shifts.
