Light luxury home theater best choice 徕 D D1 smart projection experience

In the past two years, no screen TV has suddenly flooded the streets. However, many friends of Ginger Wet have been asking how to choose a no-screen TV. Despite this, Jiang Dashui hasn’t shown much interest in this small LED projector. Although no-screen TVs share some drawbacks with traditional projectors—such as slow startup, short lamp life, and low heat—LED projectors still offer similar brightness, resolution, and color performance. Recently, the brand-new smart projection LIGHTANK D1, also known as Eden D1, was launched. It uses more professional 3LCD imaging technology, which is said to significantly improve color purity and picture details. Ginger Wet is very interested in this product. Let’s see if this new LED projector can change Jiang Wet’s impression of LED projectors.

When I first received the Eden D1, I was shocked. The packaging was huge. Along with the product images and model information, it clearly highlighted the key 3LCD technology, along with the brand name and packaging details. The brand name, KAMI, was new to me. It turned out to be an ecosystem company under Xiaomi. Maybe the company realized that, so they named this new projector LIGHTANK and gave it a more Western style.

Opening the package, I found the projector wrapped in thick bubble wrap. Since there's no offline purchase channel, everything is bought online. This exaggerated packaging is actually a good choice. At least when Jiang Dashi saw the thick bubble, he felt reassured.

After taking out the projector, I saw the remote control, accessory box, and instructions below. In addition to the power supply, there were two AA batteries for the remote.

The layout of the remote control is similar to that of the Hami H1, but the shape is slightly different. Although the material changed from metal to plastic, the grip feels better. At the bottom of the volume focus switch button, the design is the same as the H1, which Ginger Wet has always liked.

Eden D1’s design is described as "handsome!" It might be the best-looking projector I’ve ever seen. While maintaining a traditional look, the full-metal vents on the sides and solid wood feet give it a refined feel. The front lens cover is fully automatic, only opening when the projector is on, protecting the lens perfectly.

The interface of Eden D1 is very rich. On the left, there are 3.5mm audio ports, SPDIF, Ethernet, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, two HDMI ports, a reset button, and a power port.

Above the interface is a row of buttons that perform the same functions as the remote. You can use them if the remote is lost or disconnected. However, the engraving on the buttons is not very clear, making it hard to find in the dark. But it’s unlikely you’ll need to use them directly.

From the image above, you can see that the protective film of the Eden D1 mentions “open top cover visible hard disk storage.” There is a standard 2.5-inch hard drive interface here. Just before Ginger Wet had a 128GB SSD, it fit perfectly here!

At the bottom of the projector is a zoom knob. The Eden D1 supports 1.2x physical zoom, allowing you to adjust the size without moving the projector. This is very practical! Also, the projector’s specifications are printed at the bottom.

Looking at just the appearance of the Eden D1, I already feel the sincerity behind this product. But will the actual projection performance match its looks? We quickly connected it to power for testing. Also, since the only white wall in Ginger Wet’s house was used by others to draw a circle with a crayon, the test chart shows a faint circle we ignored. After pairing the remote and connecting via Wi-Fi, we entered the main interface. The Eden D1 supports 45° trapezoidal correction, so the image is perfectly aligned. Once inside, the interface is very similar to most smart TVs, making it easy to navigate. The main content sources are Mango TV and Ichievo TV, covering almost all online movies and TV shows. It’s unlikely you’ll miss any content.

Ginger found an interesting feature: the voice search function can not only find movies but also check the weather. Though not particularly useful for a projector, it’s still a nice touch.

Quickly opening a movie, the performance of the Eden D1 is impressive. Whether it’s motion handling or color reproduction, it far surpasses current LED micro-projectors.

As a smart projector, the Eden D1 offers more than just video streaming. It allows wireless screen mirroring from phones and computers with no lag. Even small text on a computer screen appears clearly. So, even for office use, the Eden D1 is more than sufficient.

This close-up shot shows the Eden D1 uses square pixel arrangement, unlike conventional projectors that use diamond-shaped pixels. Square pixels provide better clarity and detail, especially for text. That explains why the computer screen looked so sharp after projection. The Eden D1 has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 (16:10), which allows full 16:9 video playback and displays more content for office needs.

Testing the HDMI performance, I connected my Nintendo Switch to the Eden D1. As expected, the performance was excellent, and even playing games was fun and smooth.

The Eden D1 also includes a built-in game center and music center. It’s convenient to download simulator games using a Bluetooth controller. However, the music center feels a bit odd. Why would someone use a projector to listen to music? Plus, the Eden D1 doesn’t have built-in speakers. Why not just use external speakers?

In summary: The Eden D1 performs very well, keeping the advantage of LED projectors—no waiting time and long lifespan. It also overcomes the issues of low brightness, resolution, and poor color space common in traditional LED projectors. The Eden D1 supports 3D projection, but without original 3D glasses, I didn’t test it extensively. Considering its high value, it’s definitely the best choice for building a home theater within ten thousand yuan. The only downside is the lack of built-in speakers. Fortunately, there are good Bluetooth speakers available. If the manufacturer could include a quality set, the Eden D1 would surely gain more market recognition.
