In the past two years, no screen TV hasn’t suddenly flooded the streets. However, many friends of Ginger Wet have been curious about how to choose a no-screen TV. Despite this, Jiang Dashui hasn’t shown much interest in this small LED projector. Although no-screen TVs suffer from the same drawbacks as traditional projectors—like slow startup times, limited lamp life, and low brightness—their resolution and color performance aren’t too far off from conventional models. Recently, the brand new smart projection LIGHTANK D1, also known as Eden D1, was launched. It uses a more professional 3LCD imaging technology, which is said to significantly improve color purity and image details. Ginger Wet is quite interested in this product, so let’s see if this new LED projector can change Jiang Dashui's impression of LED projectors.

When I first received the Eden D1, I was shocked by the size of the packaging. In addition to featuring product images and model details, it clearly highlighted the key 3LCD technology on the box, along with the brand name and other information. The brand, Kami, is actually an ecosystem company under Xiaomi. Perhaps realizing that some might not be familiar with the name, they chose a more Western-sounding name, LIGHTANK, for this projector.

Opening the package, I found the projector wrapped in thick bubble wrap, which makes sense since there are no offline purchasing options. All purchases are done online, and such exaggerated packaging gives a sense of security. Seeing the thick bubble wrap made Jiang Dashui feel relieved.

After taking out the projector, I noticed the remote control, accessory box, and instruction manual. Inside the accessory box, there was a power supply and a pair of AA batteries for the remote.

The remote control layout is similar to the Hami H1, but the shape is slightly different. While the material has changed from metal to plastic, the grip feels better. At the bottom of the volume and focus buttons, the design is the same as the H1, which Ginger Wet has always liked.

Jiang Dashui described the appearance of the Eden D1 as "handsome!" This might be the most stylish projector he has ever seen. While maintaining a traditional projector look, the full-metal vents on the sides and solid wood feet give it a refined feel. The front lens cover is fully automatic and only opens when the projector is turned on, offering excellent protection.

The interface of the Eden D1 is very rich. On the left, you’ll find 3.5mm audio ports, SPDIF, network cable port, USB 2.0 and 3.0, two HDMI ports, a reset button, and a power interface.

Above the interface is a row of buttons that perform the same functions as the remote. You can use these if the remote is lost or disconnected. However, the engraving on the buttons isn't very clear, making them hard to locate in the dark. Still, it's unlikely you'll need to use them directly.

You might have noticed the phrase “open top cover visible hard disk storage†printed on the protective film of the Eden D1. There is a standard 2.5-inch hard drive interface reserved here. Just before testing, I had a 128GB SSD ready, which fit perfectly.

At the bottom of the projector is a zoom knob, and the Eden D1 supports 1.2x optical zoom. This allows you to adjust the size without moving the projector, which is very practical. Also, the projector’s specifications are printed at the bottom.

Looking at just the exterior features of the Eden D1, it's already clear that this product is made with sincerity. But will the actual projection performance match its appearance? We quickly connected it to power and started testing. Also, I should mention that the only white wall in Ginger Wet's house was used by others to draw a circle with a crayon, so the test chart below shows a faint circle we overlooked. (̑• á•• Ì‘)

After pairing the remote and connecting via Wi-Fi, we entered the main interface. The Eden D1 supports 45° trapezoidal correction, so the projector works smoothly. Once inside, the interface looks similar to most smart TVs, making it easy to navigate. The main content sources are Mango TV and Ichievo TV, which include most online movie and TV resources. You won’t have trouble finding what you want to watch.

Ginger found an interesting feature: the voice search function can not only find movies but also check the weather. While it may seem unnecessary for a projector, it's still a useful addition.

Quickly opening a movie, the performance of the Eden D1 was impressive. Whether it was dynamic scenes or color reproduction, it surpassed current LED micro-projectors. The three LCDs were clearly visible.

Since the Eden D1 is called a smart projector, it does more than just stream videos. You can wirelessly mirror your phone or computer screen without any lag. Especially when mirroring a computer screen, even small text was clearly visible. So, even if you buy it for office use, the Eden D1 handles it effortlessly.

From this close-up shot, you can see that the Eden D1 uses a square pixel arrangement, unlike traditional projectors that usually use diamond-shaped pixels. Square pixels offer better clarity and detail, especially for text. That explains why the computer screen was so clear after being projected. The Eden D1 has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 (16:10), which allows for full 16:9 video playback and more content display for office needs.

Testing the HDMI performance, Ginger Wet connected a Nintendo Switch to the Eden D1. As expected, the performance was excellent, even making the experience more enjoyable.

The Eden D1 also includes a built-in game center and music center. It's clever to buy a Bluetooth controller and download some simulator games. As for the music center, Jiang Daxi finds it a bit odd. Who would use a projector to listen to music? Plus, the Eden D1 doesn’t have built-in speakers. Why not just use external speakers?

In summary, the performance of the Eden D1 is very satisfying for Jiang Dashui. It maintains the advantages of LED projectors, like fast startup and long lifespan, while overcoming the disadvantages of traditional LED projectors, such as low brightness and poor color space. The Eden D1 also supports 3D projection, though Ginger didn’t test it extensively due to the lack of original 3D glasses. With its high value, the Eden D1 is definitely the best choice for building a home theater within ten thousand yuan. The only downside is the absence of built-in speakers. Fortunately, there are good Bluetooth speakers available, and if the manufacturer included a quality set, the Eden D1 would surely gain more market recognition.
