During a visit to the China Mobile Hubei Branch, reporters observed that the newly launched 5G base station was installed at an existing site, with engineers conducting real-time tests on the spot. The results showed that the 5G network can reach speeds of up to 13 Gbps, with a latency as low as 1 millisecond. Each user can experience stable download speeds of over 1.2 Gbps, making data transfer significantly faster and more efficient.

When compared to 4G, 5G represents a major leap in performance. According to officials from China Mobile Hubei, the peak speed of 5G is at least 10 times that of 4G, which typically operates at around 100 Mbps. At these speeds, users can stream ultra HD movies or download large files in just seconds, showcasing the transformative potential of 5G technology.

“5G is not just 4G plus 1G,” said the head of China Mobile Hubei. “It brings much more than just faster speeds. The ultra-low latency and high-density connectivity will revolutionize industries like autonomous driving, smart homes, and urban management.” He added that these features will play a crucial role in shaping a smarter future, where everything is connected and communication is seamless.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China aims to complete large-scale 5G network trials by the end of 2018 and begin commercial deployment in 2020. In line with this plan, Hubei Mobile intends to install over 100 5G base stations in Wuhan during 2018. This will ensure continuous coverage and allow for extensive testing and verification. Additionally, the company will collaborate with local industry leaders to demonstrate 5G applications and services, paving the way for a more connected and intelligent future.
