Access Control Intercom
With the rapid development of technology, walkie-talkies have become increasingly popular in the security industry, leading to the creation of door-to-door intercom systems. Access control intercom systems integrate walkie-talkie technology into access control solutions, allowing users to make calls or engage in video communication. These systems typically consist of an intercom host, an extension unit, a UPS power supply, an electric lock, and a door closer. Depending on the type, they can be categorized into direct-type, digital-type, digital household pass, direct-press video intercom, digital video intercom, and digital household video intercom systems.
Intercom Host
The intercom host is the central component of the building intercom system. It manages signals from each extension and controls the electric lock. The internal circuitry is designed with vibration and moisture resistance, ensuring high durability and reliability. It also features night lighting for visibility and a sleek, elegant appearance.
Intercom Extension
The intercom extension functions as a walkie-talkie, enabling communication between the host and the user. In a household system, it integrates with the host to form an internal telephone network, making communication more convenient. Extensions can be visual or non-visual, offering electric lock control and monitoring capabilities. They are usually installed at the front door, allowing residents to easily speak with visitors.
UPS Power Supply
The primary function of the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is to keep the intercom system operational during power outages. Under normal conditions, it remains charged, and when the power fails, it provides backup power to the system. However, many manufacturers avoid using UPS batteries due to the high power consumption of visual systems, which makes it difficult for small capacity batteries to maintain long-term operation.
Electric Lock
An electric lock consists mainly of an electromagnetic mechanism. When the user presses the unlock button on the extension, the electromagnetic coil is energized, causing the mechanism to move the connecting rod and open the gate. This allows controlled access to the building.
Door Closer
A door closer is a mechanical device that automatically closes the door after it has been opened. It includes a regulator to adjust the speed and force of the closing action, making it both safe and easy to use.
Working Principle
Visitors can call and communicate with residents through the intercom host located at the entrance. Residents can then remotely control the door from inside their home. The community intercom host continuously monitors alarm signals and alerts security personnel when necessary. This system not only enhances the safety of high-rise buildings but also improves convenience for residents by eliminating the need to constantly go up and down.
Operation Method
The door remains locked at all times, preventing unauthorized entry. Residents can use keys to enter freely. When a guest visits, they press the corresponding room number on the intercom keypad outside the building to contact the resident. The resident then uses the intercom to verify the visitor's identity via voice or video. Once confirmed, the resident can unlock the door remotely, allowing the visitor to enter. Afterward, the door automatically locks again.
The property management’s security department can monitor the status of the intercom system across the community using a centralized management host. If the entrance door is tampered with or if there is a system failure, the host will trigger an alarm and display the location. Residents and property management can communicate through the system for various purposes, such as paying fees, reporting repairs, or seeking emergency assistance.
