NI demonstrates its big data system solutions for industrial IoT

National Instruments (NI), a leading provider of tools and platforms for engineers and scientists, has long focused on helping solve complex engineering challenges. At the 2016 Industrial Automation Show, NI showcased its commitment to the industrial Internet of Things (IoT) by introducing an advanced Big Data System solution. This platform integrates NI’s cutting-edge measurement, asset condition monitoring, and factory testing technologies to deliver innovative and efficient solutions tailored for China’s rapidly growing industrial IoT market. The global push toward IoT has become a shared goal across nations and industries. Whether it's China’s “Made in China 2025” initiative, the U.S. “Industrial Internet,” or Germany’s “Industry 4.0,” these strategies all emphasize the importance of interconnected systems and smart manufacturing. In this era of massive data growth, companies without a strong data management strategy risk falling behind. NI’s platform-based approach to industrial IoT helps businesses streamline development, boost efficiency, and significantly reduce time-to-market, ultimately creating more value for their operations. At the exhibition, NI emphasized its solutions for building robust industrial IoT big data systems. The NI platform can act as a simulated IoT/M2M gateway, capturing, aggregating, and digitizing analog signals. Additionally, NI introduced the InsightCM Enterprise suite, offering cloud-based data management, analytics, and system monitoring tools for big data processing. One of the key highlights was the demonstration of predictive maintenance solutions developed in partnership with industry leaders, along with new products supporting Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN). These innovations help enterprises accelerate project timelines, improve software efficiency, and enhance scalability while reducing overall system costs. NI also presented several key products at the event: • A predictive maintenance solution combining NI InsightCM, OSIsoft PI, and Zhongruitai iEM • An automated material sorting system based on the NI CompactRIO intelligent platform • A CompactRIO system supporting TSN technology • An automated test platform using the NI PXI platform According to Rahman Jamal, NI Global Technology and Marketing Director, “The trend toward intelligent and connected devices is driving advancements in processors, FPGAs, wireless connectivity, low-cost sensing, and software. NI aims to demonstrate how its industrial IoT platform—built on these technologies—can help enterprises quickly deploy and scale their IoT systems.” He added that NI will continue to focus on the needs of industrial users, providing powerful embedded design platforms and unified application architectures to support the rapid growth of China’s industrial IoT ecosystem.
