66,122 cars! European electric passenger car sales increased by 32.84% in the first four months of 2016

According to preliminary statistics from the True Lithium Research, in the first four months of 2016, a total of 53 electric passenger car products were sold in Europe, with a total sales volume of 66,122 units, an increase of 32.84% compared with 49,975 vehicles in the same period in 2015.

True lithium research is expected to exceed 270,000 electric passenger car sales in Europe in 2016, an increase of about 40%. The annual growth rate will be significantly lower than 2015, mainly because the base is growing rapidly.

1, EV and PHEV statistics

In 2016, 53 European models of electric passenger cars, EVs have 29.5 models (the BMW i3 pure electric version is calculated as 0.5 models, the same below), accounting for 55.66%; PHEV has 23.5 models (BMW i3 extended version is calculated as 0.5, the same below, accounting for 44.34%. In the same period of 2015, only 35 electric passenger car products were sold in Europe, including 19.5 EVs and 15.5 PHEVs. Among the European car giants, the French car giants (Renault, PSA Peugeot Citroen) only develop EV passenger car products, while the German car giants (Volkswagen Group, Daimler, BMW) and Volvo are clearly focusing on the development of PHEV products.

In terms of their respective sales, in the first four months of 2016, 33,494 EV passenger cars were sold in Europe, accounting for 50.65%; and 32,628 PHEV passenger cars, accounting for 49.35%. In the same period of 2015, Europe sold a total of 28,719 EV passenger cars, accounting for 57.7%; PHEV passenger cars, 210,56, accounting for 42.3%. In contrast, PHEV passenger cars that do not have “mileage anxiety” and can replace traditional gasoline and diesel vehicles are more and more popular among European consumers, and have a tendency to come later.

2, the main car sales statistics

In 2016, there were 16 products in the European electric passenger car market that sold more than 1,000 vehicles, as shown in Table 2. These 16 products account for 85.9% of the market, of which 9.5 models of PHEV passenger cars, accounting for nearly 60%. As in the same period last year, Mitsubishi OutlandPHEV and Nissan Leaf EV still occupy the top two sales charts, of which Nissan Leaf EV has been greatly improved (mainly using new battery technology with greatly increased energy density). Welcomed by the market.
