Altera releases CPRI v4.1 IP core for wireless base station and remote RF front-end design
Altera Corporation announced that it has begun to provide the Common Public Radio Frequency Interface (CPRI) v4.1 Intellectual Property (IP) core. CPRI v4.1 IP cores can achieve channel rates up to 6.144 Gbps, support LTE and WiMAX standards in one system, and provide traditional support for WCDMA, CDMA, and other air interface standards. It helps developers easily update the dedicated CPRI to a solution that can be flexibly configured, supports current standards, improves user performance, and reduces total costs.
This fully configurable off-the-shelf solution completes Altera ’s 40-nm series, which includes Arria II GX FPGAs supporting 3.072G CPRI line rate, and StraTIx IV GX FPGA and HardCopy IV supporting 6.144G CPRI line rate ASIC solution. This IP core is targeted for a variety of wireless applications, including multimode air interface support, single-hop and multi-hop system topologies, and advanced MIMO antenna configurations. It also provides a test bed to complete the startup sequence of common configuration modes, so developers can quickly start designing and focus on highlighting product advantages.

This new CPRI v4.1 core further improves Altera series wireless base station technology.
