Powerbeats 3 Wireless Headset Released for Apple W1 Chip

The Verge Chinese Station reported on October 27

Powerbeats 3 debuted on the iPhone 7 in September of this year. This wireless headset from Beats is now officially on sale. Following the launch of the Beats Solo3 headset and Apple’s own AirPods wireless headset, Powerbeats is the third product to use Apple's proprietary W1 chip.

According to Apple, the W1 chip can help extend battery life. Powerbeats 2 can only work for 6 hours after a single charge, while the new Powerbeats 3 can achieve 12 hours of battery life, which is more than double the previous generation. In addition, with the help of the new "Fast Fuel" feature, the headset can last up to an hour in just five minutes of charging. Like AirPods, Powerbeats 3 can also be paired with the iPhone 7. Since the latter uses Bluetooth as the underlying wireless protocol, they should also be compatible with other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

As early as September, The Verge pointed out that since Beats was acquired by Apple, the former would obviously benefit from the iPhone 7's cancellation of the 3.5mm headphone jack. In addition, as a wireless headset, users no longer have to be bothered about tangling headphones.

Interested users can order Powerbeats 3 from Apple's online store today, which is priced at US$199.95 (approximately RMB1,353) and is expected to be shipped within one to two weeks. (Author: James Vincent compile: Dahe)
