GLII: China's LED general lighting demand will be released into the fast lane next year

According to the latest research report released by the High-tech LED Industry Research Institute (GLII), the demand for LED general lighting in the Chinese market in the third quarter of 2012 increased by 52% year-on-year. It is expected that the demand growth in the fourth quarter will exceed the third quarter, with a year-on-year increase of more than 60%. .

At the same time, the number of domestic LED lighting companies increased rapidly in the first half of 2012, which indirectly led to increasingly fierce market competition. According to GLII data, from the first half of 2011 to the first half of 2012, the number of new LED indoor lighting companies in China was nearly 1,800. Among them, nearly 1,000 new indoor LED lighting companies were added in the first half of this year.

The continuous improvement of LED light efficiency and the continuous decline of product prices make the price difference of LED lighting compared with traditional lighting products gradually narrowing, and the comprehensive advantages of products are constantly emerging. In the third quarter of 2012, LED fluorescent tubes, LED bulbs, LED panel lights, LED ceiling lamps, LED downlights, and LED spotlights became the main product categories for LED indoor lighting market demand growth.

According to GLII data, the price of indoor lighting products such as LED fluorescent tubes, LED bulbs and LED downlights in the domestic market in the third quarter of 2012 decreased by more than 9%, the output value increased by more than 46%, and the output increased by more than 60%.

● LED bulbs have always been the category with the largest price drop and the most demand in the market. In the third quarter of 2012, the average ex-factory price of 3W LED bulbs (instead of 8W energy-saving lamps) in the domestic market was lower than 12 yuan, down 11.8% from the second quarter, and the price drops of 5W, 7W and 10W LED bulbs exceeded 9%.

Prices continue to fall, driving the rapid rise of the LED lighting retail market. According to GLII's survey of some lighting stores and lighting cities in South China, the retail price of 3W LED bulbs has dropped to around 15-20 yuan, close to the price limit of 8-10 yuan acceptable to the public.

● LED panel lights Since 2011, prices have continued to decline. In the third quarter of 2012, the market price of LED panel lights decreased by 10.5% from the previous quarter, which was more than the decline of LED fluorescent tubes. Due to strong market demand, LED panel lights ranked first in the third quarter of 2012 for the growth of the output value of various indoor lighting products.

● LED downlights have the smallest increase in output value, but from the GLII survey data, LED downlights are the most mature LED indoor lighting products entering lighting city and lighting counters.

Export growth exceeded expectations

In the third quarter of 2012, the domestic LED general lighting output value increased rapidly. In addition to benefiting from the rapid growth of domestic market demand, it is also directly related to the rapid growth of export market demand.

According to GLII statistics, the growth of China's LED general lighting products declined in the second quarter of 2012, but the export growth in the third quarter was significant, with a sequential increase of more than 40%.

The global economic environment in 2012 was the worst year since 2008, but the export of LED general lighting products in China continued to grow, because the countries are taking a series of measures to stimulate economic development.

In 2012, the global economic weakness continued, but the concept of LED energy-saving lighting has been recognized by governments and the public, especially in Europe, America, Japan and South Korea where energy conservation is strong. In addition, the continued deterioration of the economy has also forced governments to adopt policies such as energy conservation and emission reduction, and stimulate consumption to stimulate economic growth.

GLII statistics show that in the regional distribution of China's LED general lighting export market in 2012, Europe has become the largest overseas market, accounting for more than 30%.

At the same time, Russia, Turkey, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, India and Southeast Asia have become the new highlights of this year's export market.

Among the LED indoor lighting products, LED fluorescent tubes, LED bulbs, LED ceiling lamps, LED spotlights, and LED panel lights still account for the largest proportion. Among them, LED panel lamps are the highest growth rate among export lighting products this year. , an increase of 80% year-on-year; at the same time, the proportion of outdoor lighting in export products this year increased by about 30% compared with the same period in 2011.

GLII expects that domestic LED general lighting products will enter the fast lane of market demand growth in 2013, spurred by the double positive factors of rapid growth in export and domestic demand this year.
