What is the most worthy card in the thousand dollars? Or China’s special supply

[PConline Review] AMD's previous Polaris graphics card was the RX400 series, with the first model featuring the "D" suffix, the RX470D, being quite popular. Apart from its mining capabilities, the card itself was very cost-effective and has become a classic in the market. Moving to the RX500 generation, AMD continued the tradition of the "D" suffix, introducing the RX560D. Today, we're looking at the Platinum OC version from Sapphire, priced under $1,000. Let's see how it performs.

Unboxing: The card features aluminum fins and a dual-fan design with smart start-stop technology, offering good cooling without excessive pressure.

The design remains largely unchanged, sticking to the black color scheme typical of Sapphire’s Platinum Edition. While not groundbreaking, it's instantly recognizable as a Sapphire product.

Power Interface

The RX560D comes with a standard 6-pin power connector, which is sufficient for its power needs and makes it suitable for upgrading older systems.

PCIe ×16 Goldfinger

Display Output Interface

The output ports are somewhat limited, including DP, HDMI, and another DP, but this configuration is still adequate for most users. The most commonly used ports are likely DVI and HDMI.

GPU-Z Parameters: Slightly higher frequency than the base model.

Sapphire offers two versions of the RX560D: one is a 75W model with an external 6-pin power supply, running at 1216MHz core clock and priced at 949 yuan. The other is a 45W version without external power, with a core clock of 1176MHz and memory speed of 7000MHz, priced at 899 yuan.

We tested the 75W version today. Its specs are similar to the RX460, but with updated tech that may lead to slightly lower power consumption. However, since the frequencies differ, direct comparison isn't straightforward.

Sapphire, as a top-tier GPU brand, delivers excellent build quality, design, and thermal performance. As long as the price is reasonable, it will definitely sell well. However, due to factors like the mining boom and rising material costs, the RX560D's price has increased slightly. Still, overall prices across the graphics card market have risen, making this situation unavoidable.

You can see that the components on the right side of the PCIe golden finger are sparse. If you wanted, you could easily make a smaller card that fits into a single PCIe slot.

Magnesium GDDR5 Memory

The RX560D has a 128-bit memory bus, using four 1GB memory chips to form a total of 4GB, which is more than enough for its core.

● Test Platform Description

Sapphire RX560D 4G D5 Platinum OC (75W) – Image Review & Specifications Overview

To simulate real-world usage scenarios for gamers, we tested the power consumption of the platform in two situations: gaming and standby mode, to better understand where the RX560D's power efficiency lies.

Power Consumption Test Summary: The RX560D consumes about the same power as the RX460, and it's still far from matching the GTX1050, which even uses 25W less under full load.

● Graphics Stability and Full Load Temperature Test:

We tested the stability of the graphics card using the widely recognized 3DMARK stress test. The Sapphire RX560D Platinum OC passed 99.5% of the tests, showing no issues with stability. The full load temperature was measured at 74°C via GPU-Z, which is a normal and acceptable number.

● Full Load Noise Test:

We used a noise meter to measure the fan noise during the 3DMARK stress test.

The noise level stabilized at just 43 decibels, which is remarkably quiet for a graphics card. This indicates that the cooling system of the Sapphire Platinum Edition is well-designed and effective.

PConline Evaluation Room Summary:

Sapphire RX560D 4G D5 Platinum OC (75W) – Image Review & Specifications Overview

In reality, the performance of the RX460 is very similar to its predecessor, as they share the same core size. The difference lies mainly in the clock speeds, and even a slight increase in frequency doesn’t significantly impact real-world applications.

The positioning of the video card is clear: if you don’t have a dedicated graphics card, this upgrade is still a solid choice. However, if you already have a GTX950 or higher, the improvement won’t be very noticeable. Compared to the GTX1050, the RX560D has more memory and can handle a wider range of game scenarios.

The Sapphire RX560D Platinum Edition OC is slightly more expensive than other brands, but given the quality and craftsmanship, it's worth the extra cost.

Pros and Cons:
1. Small technological updates and slight improvements in efficiency.
2. Better memory capacity compared to the GTX1050, but slightly higher price than other brands.
