How to choose the applicable LED

There are three important factors when designing the screen size:

(1) The need to display content

(2) Space conditions of the venue

(3) Display unit template size (indoor screen) or pixel size (outdoor screen)

The resolution of a common LED display is generally up to 480 rows x 768 columns. The special display can exceed this limit. The common method is to use two screens to combine; the Other is to design the circuit with ultra-high speed chip, but the cost is high.

The following are the design reference sizes for indoor screens:

The dot pitch of φ3.0mm is 4.00 mm, and the maximum size of the screen is about 2.0 m (height) × 3 m.

The point spacing of φ3.75mm is 4.75 mm, and the maximum size of the screen is about: 2.5 meters (height) × 4 meters.

The dot pitch of φ5.0mm is 7.62 mm, and the maximum size of the screen is about: 3.7 m (height) × 6 m.

When designing the geometry of the indoor display, it should be based on the size of the display unit template. A unit template resolution is generally 32 rows × 64 columns, that is, a total of 2048 pixels, the geometric dimensions are as follows:

Φ3.75mm unit template size: 152 mm (height) × 304 mm (width)

The φ5 mm unit template size is: 244 mm (height) × 487 mm (width)

The size of the outer frame of the indoor display can be determined according to requirements, and should generally be proportional to the size of the screen. The outer frame is usually 5 cm - 10 cm (per side).

For outdoor screens, the pixel size is first determined. The selection of the pixel size should take into account the needs of the aforementioned display content and the space factor of the space, and the installation position and line of sight should also be considered. If the installation location is farther from the subject's line of sight, the pixel size should be larger, because the larger the pixel size, the more the LEDs in the pixel, the higher the brightness, and the farther the effective line of sight. However, the larger the pixel size, the lower the pixel resolution per unit area and the less content is displayed.

Power consumption and power requirements

The power consumption of the display is divided into average power consumption and maximum power consumption. The average power consumption, also known as the working power, is the actual actual power consumption. The maximum power consumption is the power consumption during extreme conditions such as startup or full illumination. The maximum power consumption is an essential factor for AC power supply (wire diameter, switch, etc.).

Φ5 mm display power consumption:

Average power consumption: 200W/m2; maximum power consumption: 450W/m2

Φ3.75mm display power consumption = φ5 mm display power consumption × 2.5 times

The display screen is a large-scale precision electronic device. For safe use and reliable operation, the AC220V power input terminal or the AC220V power input terminal connected to the microcomputer must be connected to the ground.

Note: The AC220V power input ground of the microcomputer has been connected to the microcomputer case.

Special considerations for outdoor screens

The main problems of the outdoor screen are as follows:

(1) The display screen is installed outdoors, often exposed to the sun and rain, the wind blows the dust cover, and the working environment is bad. If the electronic equipment is wet or seriously damp, it may cause a short circuit or even a fire, causing malfunction or even fire, resulting in loss.

(2) The display may be subject to strong electric and magnetic attacks caused by lightning.

(3) The ambient temperature varies greatly. When the display is working, it must generate a certain amount of heat. If the ambient temperature is too high and the heat dissipation is poor, the integrated circuit may not work properly or even be burned, so that the display system cannot work normally.

(4) The audience is wide, the distance between the line of sight is long, the field of vision is wide, and the ambient light varies greatly, especially in direct sunlight.

In response to the above special requirements, the outdoor display must:

(1) The joint between the screen body and the screen body and the building must be strictly waterproof and leakproof; the screen body should have good drainage measures, and the water can be discharged smoothly once the water accumulation occurs.

(2) Install lightning protection devices on the display and buildings. The main body and the outer casing of the display are well grounded, and the grounding resistance is less than 3 ohms, so that the large current caused by lightning is discharged in time.

(3) Install the ventilation equipment to cool down, so that the internal temperature of the screen is between -10 °C and 40 °C. An axial fan is installed on the back of the screen to dissipate heat.

(4) Select an industrial-grade integrated circuit chip with an operating temperature between -40 ° C and 80 ° C to prevent the display from starting due to low temperature in winter.

(5) In order to ensure long-distance visibility in the case of strong ambient light, ultra-high brightness LEDs must be used.

(6) The display medium adopts a new wide viewing angle tube with wide viewing angle, pure color, consistent coordination, and a service life of more than 100,000 hours. The outer packaging of the display medium is currently the most popular with a rectangular cylinder with a cover, a silicone seal, and no metallization; its appearance is exquisite and beautiful, durable and durable, with direct sunlight, dustproof, waterproof, high temperature resistance, and short circuit protection.
