TC Disrupt Conference | "The Queen of Virtualization" Diane Greene: How does Google Cloud collect 200 million users of Evernote?

"Virtual Queen", Executive Vice President of Google Enterprise Cloud Business Diane Greene

Diane Greene, known in the industry as the "Queen of Virtualization," has been developing and spreading the belief in server virtualization. Today, as the Executive Vice President of Google Enterprise Cloud Business, she and TechCrunch's editor Matt Burns attended the TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco and talked about her current role in running Google's massive cloud business.

Last year, Google spent $348 million to acquire Bebop Technologies Inc., a startup company of Diane Greene, which provided a new development platform that allows developers to more easily develop and maintain enterprise applications, thereby enabling more companies to enjoy Cloud computing brings convenience. After the acquisition, Diane Greene also joined Google Cloud Business as he should. He immediately began to take charge of Google's cloud computing-related business. Under her leadership, Google’s cloud department is taking a different approach from Google’s traditional corporate culture. It not only pays more attention to marketing and customer needs, it is no longer pursuing the most advanced technology, but tailors the most suitable for its customers. Cloud service.

From Diane Greene's resume, it is easy to see that she is a very pragmatic leader and was a co-founder of VMware. The company was finally acquired by EMC Group for US$635 million, and led VMware’s initial public offering in 2007. At VMware, she focused on virtual machine technology, which is the cornerstone of cloud computing infrastructure services.

Now, with in-depth experience, she is trying to help Google catch up with the current players - Amazon's Web Service and Microsoft's Azure. In fact, she has just announced a major victory for the company. Evernote has stated that it will transfer information about 200 million users from its private cloud to Google's cloud.

Evernote Why Google? One of the main reasons for this is that the way in which data is processed using machine learning algorithms cannot be implemented in existing systems, otherwise at least a large amount of investment is required to upgrade. Evernote's chief technology officer, Anirban Kundu, said that Evernote has always been under tremendous pressure to manage and maintain servers. After using Google cloud services, the company can be freed from this burden and management will become more flexible.

Google’s BigQuery data service uses a SQL-like interface that is intuitive for most users and is suitable for non-technical people to learn. It supports a petabyte-scale database and can perform data flow of 100,000 lines per second instead of storing data from the cloud. BigQuery also supports local replication, and users can choose to store data.

BigQuery is a pay-as-you-go service with no dedicated infrastructure that allows Google to use a large number of processors to maintain fast queries while supporting Park, Hadoop, Pig, and Hive integration. Businesses can also use Google Analytics and DoubleClick. Google Cloud data flow allows users to sort cloud data services. Google also offers other big data services, including the NoSQL database CloudDatastore for non-relational data; CloudBigTable, a massively scalable NoSQL database; CloudMachine, a machine learning cloud management platform; and auxiliary tools such as translation and voice converters.

Although Google Inc. has an edge search and analysis engine, it lacks a GPU instance series, which is puzzling. Data Analysis Writing GPU code is a high-value skill that can give GPUs amazing performance gains. In particular, it added AWS functionality in 2011 and Azure functionality in 2015.

At the same time, Greene also pointed out that moving to the cloud is a very meaningful move. "I really don't understand why anyone would want to run a data center on their own. Now I know what our data center can do, and they don't understand our size yet." She said Google has invested in their data center. US$10 billion, and 650 employees specialize in security.

She pointed out exactly that no one private company of the same kind is likely to make such a promise.

“I think that everyone has realized that this will make the system more secure, and it will take less investment, and it will take advantage of others’ innovation in this area. I can work with these innovators and then focus on my own Customers and products improve core competitiveness.”

But what she must know is that her competitors also have the advantages she mentioned. Although Google may have the advantage of search, it lags behind the BI front end. And Google's lack of GPU instances is also a significant difference. As for AWS and Microsoft, both put forward the same value proposition. She said that they can communicate with customers at the engineer level, and they can also provide competitive prices and efficient data centers. Under her leadership, the company is integrated in a more structured way, and they can use these factors to maintain growth.

At this point, the reality that she needs to face is that the market has only just begun to erupt. Now the scale is only the tip of the iceberg in the entire potential market. AWS is only a leader in this small part of the business. If Google can obtain the remaining available market share, it will still be very large and profitable.

Safety Controller

CSRME safety controller is developed for standard GB27607. By monitoring machine tool safety related equipment, the security of machine control system can meet the requirements of GB27607, and its security meets the requirements of ISO13849-1 (PLe) and IEC61508 (SIL3).

With rich interfaces, CSRME has limited programmable function. It can simultaneously replace many different types of safety control modules or safety PLCs, thus greatly simplifying the safety design of machine control systems and reducing cost.
