How the Gas Ultrasonic Flowmeter Transducer Works

The ultrasonic pulse travels through the pipe from one transducer to another, and during this process, a time interval T is recorded. By measuring this time, we can determine the velocity of the fluid. However, there's a key factor to consider: the flow may be moving in two directions—downstream and upstream. As a result, two different times are generated.
When the direction of the ultrasonic wave matches the flow direction, the time it takes to travel is called T1. If the wave moves against the flow, the time is referred to as T2. These two times can be expressed by the following equations:
T1 = L / (C + V) × (X / L)
T2 = L / (C - V) × (X / L)
