Battery Drum Bag for iPhone 8
[TechWeb Report] On October 13, reports emerged from foreign media about the iPhone 8 experiencing battery swelling issues in the market. Now, this problem has reached the United States, marking the first official report of a swollen battery in the region.
Since its release on September 22, at least ten cases of battery swelling have been reported globally. Some users experienced issues while transporting their devices, leading to cracked screens upon arrival. Others faced charging problems, which eventually caused damage to both the back panel and the display. So far, these incidents haven't been widely reported in the U.S., but that may be about to change.
On Wednesday, a Best Buy employee shared a post on Reddit revealing that an iPhone 8 returned by a customer had a swollen battery. This marks the first known case of such an issue in the United States.
In response to the growing number of reports, Apple has started investigating the issue. However, no official statement or solution has been released yet. As more users come forward with similar complaints, the situation could escalate quickly.
The iPhone 8 was launched on September 12 with several hardware and software improvements. While some foreign reviews called it "acceptable," they noted that it wasn't necessarily the best option available. Apple also announced the iPhone X around the same time, which overshadowed the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. As a result, sales of the older models have been disappointing, with many consumers waiting for the new flagship model.
The recent battery swelling reports add to the challenges facing the iPhone 8. Earlier issues, such as poor call quality, have already affected consumer confidence. If these problems aren’t resolved soon, they could further hurt sales and damage Apple’s reputation. (Chili Pepper)
