"At the beginning of the new century, digital gradually replaced film, and later 3D technology, and now VR (virtual reality technology) movies, these years of dramatic changes in film technology, I always feel like a film student. The world is full of unknowns, And I tried to understand," Chinese film director Jia Zhangke, who attended the 38th Cairo International Film Festival, said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency.
Jia Zhangke was awarded the "Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award" at the Cairo Film Festival. He was one of the first mainland directors to use digital cameras and is currently preparing a VR feature film. He revealed to reporters that the script concept has been basically completed and is about to enter the writing stage.
"Now VR is almost always in the form of a short film of 5 minutes to 10 minutes, and I want to challenge the feature film to see what the audience will see in the capacity of eight or ninety minutes."
The charm of new technology is precisely the biggest challenge facing the director.
“When you wear VR glasses and immerse yourself in the movie world, you can choose time and space independently, but the world is also created by the director.
